What can you do, when you turned on the TV its all produce things such as Beauty Swan (promoting surgery on woman) that making them to be beautiful by going through plastic surgery, or those make over show. Confident is the theme here.
To make sexism alive and well, is how women feel about themselves, and how the society feel about a women themselves.
As a society as a whole, it shows men and women that these is the expectation that is wanted at the current trend. Did it project intelligent women, sophication, strong, opinionated? No, it always put women as a back burner.
Yes there are woman who are who we are, standing strong, and opinionated.
And there are woman who are afraid to be themselves and team up with the other male to beat down women who stand for themselves.
The question really lies on who is more into individualism, rather then uniformism. Many people just want to belong to a group of somesort. They can't stand by themselves either by thoughts or physical means. They would be in a group by themselves.
So, Yea, SEXISM is alive ...
People make it alive. and Society make it alive.
Oh and the latest comedy over here in Baltimore ...on some sport writer whose friends are all male..That right there is making even more sexism as ever.
For this woman to be favorable among the men, she has to be with bunch of men, and to a point she couldnt get a date with a man.
Anyhow this my 2 cents...

Excellent question, I can only give my opinion. If this list of characteristics is what we are using, here goes. Use these expectations to your advantage. If the men around us look at us this way, it gives us opportunity to prove our intelligence, etc . . . without them having a clue what we are doing. Do not get bitter. That is the first mistake I have seen alot of women make. I am not saying play dumb. Make this work for you. Alot of women want equality. I am sorry if this comes out in an insulting way to men, but we women already have an advantage in that we come across better because we can be less intimidating when we may actually know more about something than to whom we are speaking. Some times men can seem a little condescending where as women do not come across this way. We can have an opinion, be intellectual, and all the rest of the things. Being a woman, we can sometimes handle these things better because we are naturally able to do so. That is if we look at it the right way and do not become bitter and angry. Not all men come across as condescending, by the way. If a man gets angry about being misunderstood, he is usually given more respect. Usually women just get called a certain name, I think you know what I mean. That is why we can't become bitter and angry. Use your intellect to make sure you are properly understood. Don't worry about sexism, it works to our advantage when handled properly.

Sexism, just like racism, is still alive and well today the rules have changed and so has the platform. But just because we have made some strides, as long as power and money come into play those two things will always exist.
Women in society are expected to be inferior and controlling to men mainly because in other countries women are seen as property and not as people. So much for globalization, huh?
Men are always willing to tell us what we should be doing, but I have yet for any of them to sit down and critique their sorriness and make strides for themselves. Just because they are born with a penis they think they rule the world.
God has so much waiting on them...and it is not good.

No Dana, feminists most certainly are not just fighting against those who wronged them. They are fighting against anyone with a c.0.c.k, against people who have done nothing wrong. FURTHERMORE, the newest generation of feminazis are fighting for something that hasn't affected them either. They are reactionary from small groups of men who wronged them in the past and so are jumping on the coat tails of their forebears and picking up the sword dropped from the previous generation in a wild grasp for...wait for it...POWER. Not saying that all feminists are like this, or even most. I am all about equality. But the feminists that people have a problem with are those who pursue, instead of equality, revenge and dominance versus men with no other desire than to make them pay dearly for nonexistent wrongs. You are basically suggesting war when we should be embracing peace. @blogeek...you are a f*kin idiot. Men most CERTAINLY have been oppressed, more so than women even. That is, unless we are living in some Bizarro Land where drafting men into war to die horrifically in battle while the women are safe and comfy back home doesn't count as oppression. ....Moron...

Women still have high demands of how they are suppose to be. In American society there is stress on women to look young and be slender. We are considered bitches if we speak our mind or are independent. Then men go for these ditzy girls they see on reality shows and in certain, ehm.. magazines where women have no real self respect.
That said, men are expected to act a certain way as well. They are expected to be strong, successful in their careers, etc.

Sadly woman are expected to be proper and elegant, and for those of us who are not we are considered as wrong and unacceptable.
And your other point is also true. Some women are more guilty than men. Hating men isn't the answer, equality is.
Thank you very much for pointing this out.

Not really, but if you act unpleasant towards others, you can either get out of their sight or cop an earful when they act towards you, in the same manner you act towards them.
And if your opinions are decidedly unintellectual, then it is best not to try to act intellectual or opinionated, lest you annoy.
All of these standards seem to apply to everyone regardless of gender. It's called equality, something feminists don't seem too crash hot on despite harping on about how they believe in it all the time.

most boys and men like gilrs/women who have big chest, skinny stomachs, big backsides, little legs and feet. So basically, we have to look like robots to be accepted. it's not fair.
of course it is true that in some ways other women are more guilty of sexism against other women than men?

they're not expected to be that way. Working with what you got to attract what you want in a mate is key, so if you want a pervert, heighten the qualities pervs go for and so on and so on.
I would say yes, that women go and judge other women viciously and ruthlessly, but to my knowledge they do it for the same reasons a bully does, which is to pick on, tease, and make themselves feel superior.

we all have our deeply embedded prejudices against other people. the important thing is knowing how wrong it is and trying not to let it affect how we treat them.
short answer, yes. women and men are both guilty of perpetuating the stereotype of the fairer sex.
