It is in a way, their first taste of indoctrination. They are taught a happy song when they are very young, and this sets the style / pace for songs and their life. Be happy! We would not teach them a sad or slow song to introduce them to music or life, so that they could mope about being sad and lethargic.

that songs is a babies favourite song Because it is easy for them to clap their hands at that young age. Also they can follow the sing song rythmn. and because anyone singing it to them is singing it upbeat and happy, so it sticks into the babies head and they remember it, i think.

You just made me happy. I had to sing the whole song out loud while clapping my hands.

It's not my baby's favourite.

She prefers " Streets of London" by Ralph McTell.

These three year olds of today!!

I think they like it because it sounds happy, you do goofy things during it and it has repitition (which babies seem to love.)

It wasn't mine. I preferred Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor.
