I guess that would depend on the legal age of your state. In the state I live in, yes it would be illegal. Because 18 is a legal age here. I would suggest you check with your state for legal age. Secondly, I am wondering why a 14 year old would want to date someone who is 18 anyway, you could not have much in common. I would advise you to stay in your own age range.

It's illegal if they have sex, the parents of the 14 year old could file statutory rape charges on the 18 year old...Then, that person would have to register as a sex offender...

No it isn't illegal to go out with someone. However, if sex comes into the picture then you are looking at the 18 yr old possibly facing statutory rape charges.

I believe it could be contributing to the delinquency of a minor if the 18 year old engages the youngster into any kind of activity that is not parent approved. (such as crossing state lines, giving a ciggerette or alcohol, etc.) and it can go clear to statutory rape if any sexual activities occur.

legal to see each other. not legal to have sex..the older one could go to jail for statutory rape if the parents found out, or if there was a pregnancy or if the younger one complained to the authorities.

A minor needs consent from their parents; but if it's strictly a date, no sexual contact, then that's a civil matter. As soon as their is any touching of a genital or erogenous area (including touching the breast under clothing, or other such 'heavy petting') then this is sexual assault.

Just "going out" violates no laws. That would require a sex act. At that point, you'd be talking statutory rape.
