During years ending in zero, every ten years, we (U.S.) have a census, according to the Constitution. If you do not send in your packet of info a paid census worker will call and bug you... sometimes they will threaten you, but to date, there have been no prosecutions for failure to abide by the census. It sorta conflicts with the 1st 4th and 5th Amendments.

If you got a call in 2006 asking for census info they are scam artists... try to get a callback number then report it to the cops....
NEVER disclose your SS # or any bank info, even to the Census Dept. ALWAYS demand a callback number.

You are required by law to answer all questions posed by the census - end of story. When you do something illegal, then yes, you can be fined or imprisoned.

However, I would agree with previous posts - you should have received a form, and then if you didn't fill it in, you would have received a follow-up call from a census worker to your door. They would have ID with them.

In any case, as someone else mentioned, this is not a census year in the US.

Whenever you are unsure about a phone call like this, ask for the agent's name/ID number, and their office phone number. Tell them you will call them back. Then call the MAIN number for the organization (in this case the census bureau) and ask to be put through to that person. If they've never heard of them, it's a scam.

I don't think it was the US Census Bureau that called you. I think someone is trying to scam you over the telephone. Do not give out any personal information on the phone. Tell them to send you a proper form in writing and then hang up.

gn0!! Feminism is approximately equality does not matter how many persons are ignorant, sexist or misandric. US census bureau might desire to not help feminism, consequently they're against equality, consequently they're misogynists@#$!@ Btw word how devil's Advocette with the internet relationship advert is telling different persons they might desire to get laid. I wanna see stats on: - Feminists that are lesbians - Feminists that are relationship or married to nerds who placed on purple and cry each and all of the time - Feminists who've divorced a nerd who wears purple and cries each and all of the time - Feminists that say they under no circumstances desire a boyfriend yet are secretly in love with considered one of their type - Feminists that tell people to get laid yet are so desperate themselves they place on on line relationship advert

Not knowing for sure, but I do know it is not a census year.....So most likely this was ill intent on their part.. I'd save a record of these type calls and report it to the police dept.

They can threaten you, but I don't believe your are legally required to answer other than the normal questions. Threatening is one thing, taking you to court is another.
