because he is smarter than popeye, see bluto knows that spinach is infected with e-coli, so if he just runs away popeye will not get the virus. He has to take his lumps to get popeye to eat more spinach so he gets e coli and dies.
Then brutus can finally get olive oil some plastic surgery and a boob job so she is f uckable.

Cause Bluto's got something to prove. He knows when that green plant's out, it's all over. But Bluto, he's a stubborn one. He'll refuse to back down, and though he may be wrong, he has determination. To an extent, you gotta admire that.
My question is, why are they fighting over Olive Oyl? I've seen more attractive female cartoon characters from that era?

Bluto wants to bring "democracy" to Popeye, but Popeye ain't havin' any of it. Nevertheless, instead of cutting & running early, Bluto's gonna stick around until he really gets his *** kicked.
