Has anyone here been to Sharm el-Sheikh? If so, what did you make of it? I'm thinking of booking a trip there for my summer hols and would really like to visit the pyramids and see Alexandria, so please tell me what you thought of the place and whether they do run trips like this.

Really want to go to Egypt but had a very bad experience with Morocco, so would appreciate any honest feedback about North Africa. Cheers!

Sharm does look pretty touristy - what do people think about Luxor?

Sharm and Luxor both rely heavily on tourism.Staying in sharm is inexpensive as there is plenty of restaurants competing against each other.Egyptians are very friendly and will ask you to look what they have to sell but i find if you are polite to them they do not mither you.We went to Alexandria in September and that is completley different. In 16 days we only seen one other european couple.Make sure you cover up there as you will be stared at.My girlfriend hated it as we went during Ramadan and it really is a mans world there.Trips to pyramids and museum can be booked through your hotel either by car (5 hour travel) or by plane. You can also book tripsto Luxor. Also remember as a summer holiday every day will be over 100 degrees.Hope this helps

I've been to Sharm el-Sheik, about 3 years ago. It was a very touristy part of Egypt - not a lot in that particular bit apart from cafes, tourist shops and the beach.
The hotel I stayed in was amazing though - Naama Bay Hotel.
I don't know what the impact of the explosion there has been though.
You also need to be very careful with what you eat - I had a pizza in pizza Hut there - when I cut into the edge of it, ants came running out. Needless to say, I got food poisoning pretty badly and was ill for quite a while. I also had very bad sun burn - I didn't realise I was burning because it was sort of windy - that's my own fault though I guess!
I didn't manage to get a trip organised to the pyramids, because it is quite some distance away from there, but I wish I had though - it seems daft that I went to Egypt and didn't see the pyramids. I did snorkelling though in the Red Sea, that was good if you like that sort of thing.
Have a good time!

I also agree with Alan - Lebanon is an excellent place to go (or it was the last time I was there, before the trouble). Loads to see and do and the people are lovely.

Sharm el-Sheikh may be the Sinai Peninsula's key tourism center and one of the world's prime fishing destinations and today you can get there your vacation with the help of that place hotelbye . Sharm el Sheikh is among Egypt's most useful places in the event that you only want to relax on the beach, and it is a preferred by household vacations as a result of exemplary services on offer. Whether you are here for the sand or the fish living, Sharm el-Sheikh is a great choice for a beach separate after discovering the temples and tombs in the rest of the country. Also, fringed with a white sand beach and swaying hand woods, Naama Bay may be the epicentre of Sharm el-Sheikh's resort life. There are abundant restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops if you obtain bored of the sand, but Naama Bay is actually exactly about the beach.

i did it through a company called either sky line or blue sky travel. they were really good and costed me £220. there are lots of companies some alot cheaper. Your travel agent will have excursions and also you will be able to look around the hotel once you are there as lots of companies will advertise there
