keep it running, if you've paid for it, its doing all the work for you, yes it may slow down pc but thats better than getting a virus.

If you purchased Nortons software I am sorry to tell you that Nortons usually never find anything and is a hugh resource hog. Windows firewall is not really a firewall. Only gives you protection from rogue ports trying to dump bad data into your system. You have no protection from data that is private or secure leaving your system.
A true firewall gives you two way protection like, Zone Alarm. Free for home personal use. http://www.zonealarm.com
If you did not purchase Nortons I would try and remove the entire package and download the free for life AOL, antivirus powered by Kaspersky Labs., Russia, rated #1 in the world for protection.

I would switch off the windows firewall and just use norton, its much more efficient. Also, download and run a programme such as spybot or superantispyware once a week or so - these will find and get rid of adware, spyware etc that norton doesn't pick up on.

I dont think that the firewall itself would slow PC down. however Norton is the best as far as overall performance when it comes to antivirus and the NIS version is great.
However, do not download Norton from their website. If anything happens, they will tell you to reinstall it again and try to charge you saying when you uninstalled it to reinstalll it you voided your contract.
Hmpfh. I switched to Avg and have been happy.

I use the same program, I recommend that you continue to use the entire Norton package as it performs a unified security application. Computers do not like "mix and match" and it could decrease your protection

Well, as Louise said, you've paid for it, keep it, but Norton is a big memory hog, and causes problems for some users.
