yahoo starts out as a directory and google as a search engine.
in the past yahoo use google's search engine to get results, but later they acquire other companies to make its own search engine. Msn also use google as its search engine, but they create its own recently.
Google got popular that way. Google makes most of its money from ads.
Yahoo has many more services than google. It can make money from ads and other subscribed services, e.g. radio.
