x = {-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)}/2a
b^2 - 4ac
= 4 - 4 x 4 x -13
= 4 + 208
= 212
Therefore,
x = {2 +- sqrt(212)}/8
= (2 +- 14.56)/8
= 2.07 or -1.57

4x² - 2x - 13 = 0
Quadratic Formula
x = - b ± √b² - 4ac / 2a
a = 4
b = - 2
c = - 13
- - - - - -
x = - (- 2) ± √(- 2)² - 4(4)(- 13) / 2 (4)
x = (2 ± √4 + 208) / 8
x = (2 ± √4 + 208) / 8
x = (2 ± √212) / 8
x =( 2 ± 14.56021978 ) / 8
- - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - -
Solving for +
x = (2 + 14.56021978) / 8
x = 16.56021978 / 8
x = 2.070027472
x = 2.07 rounded to two decimal places
- - - - - - -
Solving for -
x = (2 - 14.56021978) / 8
x = 12.56021978 / 8
X = 1.570027472
X = 1.57 rounded to two decimal places

4x² - 2x - 13 = 0
x = [2±(2²+4*4*13)^¹/2] / (2*4)
x = [2±(4+208)^¹/2] / 8
x = [2±2*53^¹/2] / 8
x = [1±53^¹/2] / 4
x' = -1.57 ... or ... x'' = 2.07
