MHO: If you like the name, go for it. But there will probably be a Kaytlyn S. and a Kaytlyn B. and a Kaytlyn R. and so on in her classes growing up. Just like when I was in school, there were 6 Amy's and 7 Jessica's in every class. The name is VERY common now-a-days no matter how you spell it.

You could ask a question for woman to state THEIR names, and see if you like any of those.

But, again, if that is the name you like and you have it in you head and your heart already, GO FOR IT!

Kaitlyn - "pure" (Celtic/Gaelic) Is a nice name; however, I don't prefer the way you chose to spell it. I would caution on the spelling you choose as the "cutesie" names can tend to be problematic in life. (Especially spelling done over the phone.) Many businesses are starting to throw away applications of made-up names and "cutesie" spellings for several reasons.

While I didn't worry about the popularity of my son's name (Samuel), some people don't want *too* popular of a name.

In 2005, Kaitlyn was #34 for girls. Over variations and their ranking:

Caitlin 193
Caitlyn 181
Kaelyn 517
Kailyn 508
Kaitlin 317
Kaitlynn 470
Katelin 979
Katelyn 58
Katelynn 296
Katlyn 614

That's just 10 other variations.

You may try the government's web site on popular names (will even tell you for the year) and see what names stick out to you there.

Good luck.

The name Kaytlyn isnt bad, but the spelling seems a bit to unique. Maybe Kaitlyn, Katelyn, Katelynn? Kaitlyn seems to be a bit more common, but it is a nice name none the less! Good luck

No. There are too many Kaitlin/Caitlin/Katelyn/etc.s running around these days. And they are always spelled diffrerently. You child will constantly have to spell her name for everyone over and over and over. And then people will still get it wrong. I'm a Caitlin and I love my name, but it does get frustrating. People never get it right. Also, I teach and there are so many different spellings for that name that it is ridiculous. If you like the name, spell it one of the 4-10 conventional ways. It'll save your daughter a lot of trouble.

My best friend's name is Caitlin!
I looove it!! It's so gorgeous. I dunno about the spelling though.. people really get confused on how to spell caitlin, and if you spell it like that, it's gonna be even more confusing!

Also.. shes not a snob, or a s***, and shes not the trendy cheerleader type! She is the most down to earth person I know. People only think of the name as that way because often times they knew a person with that name, and therefore everytime they hear that name they think of that person!!

If you like the name go for it!!! and Good luck!

I think it is pretty but becoming more common. Spell it however you want. But I do believe that parents give their kids common names and try to make the name unique by spelling it different. But when you speak it, then it is still the same common name. I shouldn't say common but it is trendy right now. It is still a very pretty name though.

Personally, I don't like it that much, and it's very, very common. The spelling might also be confusing to people since their are about 20 different ways to spell it, some of them being Caitlin, Kaitlin, Caitlyn, Caitlynn, Kaitlyn, Katelyn, etc.

I like the name, but I think the spelling will confuse people. Try spelling it Katelynn, it's still original, but easier to recognize. Nice name though!
