Yes.
16 teams. Champions of the 8 major conferences (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big Twelve, CUSA, MWC, Pac Ten, SEC) and the top 8 at-large teams.
This year, it'd be Wake Forest, Louisville, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Houston, Brigham Young, USC, and Florida as the conference champs, along with LSU, Michigan, Auburn, Wisconsin, Boise State, West Virginia, Notre Dame, and Arkansas.

I don't think there should be a play off - I like the fact there is always controversy - it helps keep the rivalries going and claiming things like OSU is only the number one team because if the played in Michigan or on a "neutral field" Michigan would have one every time. That is part of the fun of college football.
Good Luck!!!

No matter what kinda format you place in the NCAA there will always be some one crying. Complaining they was left out ..but i do think a fair way to do it would be to take the top 2 teams in each Conf. and put them in a playoff..that way there is no Computer voting no human voting..its as simple as win and move on..lose and go home..If you lose in the playoffs...then you don't deserve to be National Champs..And it would make the Season a Tad bit longer which i don't think anyone would complain about that.

I agree, I don't really understand how they score the points for who will or will not play in the "big" bowls. Seems to me any team with a perfect record should be in some kind of playoff.
