Maybe; means either maybe yes or maybe no. Not yes. When I say it, it means right at this moment I'm not interested but I might be talked into it at a later date. Therefore not shutting the door to new possiblilities. Of course the quickest way for that maybe yes, to get turned into a maybe no, is when the person you say it to goes into a strop, then you are glad you didn't say yes.

Maybe... In my case means I really don't feel like arguing, or I don't want to hurt someones feelings. I guess it is a way to give myself time to think about the question at hand.

I'm not answering for all women, but sometimes women say "maybe" so that they don't have to say "NO" to your face. Later, when you call them, they can let you down (which is easier for them). It's not a nice thing.

I don't know. When I mean no I say no. When I mean yes I say yes. And I'm a woman!

It's a damn shame that they're allowed to speak at all.
The only reason they have legs is so they can walk from the bedroom to the kitchen.
They say maybe cos it sounds better than 'I haven't got a clue'

Because they don't feel like arguing with you. If they say maybe, you'll shut up. If they say no, you'll feel like you have to win.
