I'd really appreciate it if someone who knows these engines well could explain step by step how to change the timing belt and tensioner on this engine.
Is there anything that can be done wrong that would cause the tensioner bolt to break?
This is so I can know if the job was done correctly in my car where the tensioner bolt broke 2 1/2 months after a new timing belt and tensioner was installed.
Thanks so much.

If the shop offers any kind of warranty at all - and they should - then the fact that a part they replaced 10 weeks ago broke would be something I would expect to be covered.

The bolt could have been over torqued, or they could have re-used the old bolt instead of the new one supplied with the tensioner - stupid, but it can happen.

continually...continually get your previous areas lower back from the mechanic. !! ...did I say continually?? in any different case...you're able to have the skill to work out the timing belt in some place on the motor, perhaps the place it wraps around the strain pulley. it's going to be black and prepare no signs and symptoms of age or cracking. The water pump could look spectacular/shiney and could prob. have signs and symptoms of clean silicone sealant the place it attaches to the motor. As for the seals, you're able to desire to understand the place they are, then look at around that area to work out if the line action picture/airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust have been disturbed, and as quickly as lower back, seek for silicone that has squeezed out from that interior of sight. by employing a "Haines" or different kind restore instruction manual at a close-by vehicle areas save. There approximately $12 and could have photograph photographs with descriptions to discover those products.
