You didn't give us much to go on... I wouldn't be surprised to find your alternator is going bad. They make this high pitched whine sometimes (not bearing noise) when the internals start to go bad.

Sounds like one of your belts may be loose! Sometimes when belts get wet they will also squeel for awhile until it is driven and they dry out. My car is a 1993 Dodge and in the winter mostly, the belt squeels frequently when I first start it until I get down the road a ways and then it stops. It took me awhile but I started realizing that when the weather was dry and humidity low it didn't do it. I take my old car in for service every 3000 miles so I even asked my lube guy and he said he couldn't see any problems with the belt so that could very well be the case. It is always good though to get a professional opinion and keep your vehicle on a regular service schedule.

i agree with magnum. you have a vacuum leak. get a piece of rubber hose about 3 feet long. fuel line is best, but something like a garden hose will work. with the hood up and engine idling, put one end of the hose up to your ear, and while holding the other end of the hose, kind if fish around on the top side of the engine. the hose will act like a doctors stethoscope and you will hear the noise magnify alot when you get close to the source.

hi...it is either the fanbelt squeeling, or, the bearings in your water pump are on the way out.

if it slowly disappears when the engine gets much hotter, then it is the fanbelt (and sometimes it can be your cambelt or a tentioner)...they can get damp so it stops when dried out.

so, if it doesn't disappear when the engine is hot then most probs it will be your water pump.

could be a drive belt to check switch on all lights and push the accelerator. If noise increases its a belt slipping .Or you have a vacuum leak from the inlet manifold or piping.Mick uk

Very likely it is a belt making the noise.

Hum along with it! Seriously thought it might be a water pump on the way out or a belt screaching

go to the shop and ask them to check the tension of the belts and replace them if need be.. this is the problem not a pinhole in the hoses that man should check the pinhole in his brain....

It sounds a bit like the fan belt could be slipping. maybe.

most likely an exhaust leak. do you have an aftermarket air intake? that would make extra noise, also the fan switching on and running could produce a high pitch noise, my guess is an exhaust leak tho..
