Nowadays most of the Games & Applications needs more Memory and upgrading the Ram based on the number of Memory slots on your laptop so i suggest you to go for 512 x 2
if you have only two slots.
Best of Luck

DDR2 vs DDR will depend on the laptop model and it's requirements. Contact the Laptop manufacturer. [edit] Whoops, my bad, didn't notice you said DDR2 in the questions, as noted above, get DDR2.
Get 512MB, RAM's pretty cheap these days. Since your PF usage at 350MB is more than 256 you may as well go all out and actually fix the problem.

Yes you will need to get DDR2, DDR2 and DDR are built differently, 184 pins vs 240 pin. For optimal performance DDR RAM should be bought in pairs, 2 sticks of the same density.
If you currenlty have 256MB, I would recommend upgrading to 2 sticks of 256MB each(512MB total) This should suffice your usage.

You will need to get DDR2 ram.You can't fit DDR in a DDR2 slot.Just go with the larger memory.I'd personally get a gig. You're going to need it in the future anyways if you plan to keep this laptop around for awhile.

You have to match the type of RAM you have, so whatever type of DDR2 Ram you have.
You need around a total of a gig for windows to run well nowerdays.
Replace all the ram you have with a 1gig stick, thats what I would do.

You should get the same memory that you already have in your system. In fact, you should aim to get the same brand.
You should get as much RAM as you can afford. If I had only 256MB, I would probably try to get 1GB of RAM (unless my computer would be MAXed out at 512MB).
Check your system at http://www.coastmemory.com
Good luck and Happy Computing!

256 mb of ram is usually plenty for most modern applications. But 512 is standard nowadays, so another 256mb would not be a bad idea. However, i always steer clear of laptops altogether- i don't find them value for money. They usually have slow processors- which are often the problems for their slowing down, not the amount of ram.

well in my opinion you should not upgrage the old ram instead buy a new one of either 512mb or 1gb depending on the usage... their might be some difficulties if you use 2 rams simultaniously...
my friend had expericed it so i recomend to sell the old one and buy a brand new one..
have a nice day!

Go to www.crucial.com and have your computer scanned. The result will tell you the minimum and maximum capacity of your computer It will also tell you which type of RAM you need. Also go to your pre-installed Owners Manual and under System Information Click the relevant link and you will see Exactly the type of RAN installed and the minimum and maximum capacity.
