1: repair my ear after a dog bite at 10yo
I was not happy at the time because the surgeon did not realize I had a pointed ear, like an elf, which I was very fond of, and so he gave me a stupid round ear like everybody else! I am not all that impressed with it now either, although I have gotten over the pointed thing, because the scar tissue in the cartiledge is lumpy and the effect is kind of unnatural. Perhaps he could have done a better job if the dog hadn't been there first, but I would not get my ears worked on for cosmetic reasons, because it does not turn out all that well.
On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 2.

2: repair of the area around my eye after an injury at 13
The injury was horrifying, as I waited for care in the hospital I overheard someone say, "She was a very pretty girl." The repair job was so perfect that after the very thin scar turned white like the rest of my face it looked perfectly normal. I was awed. If I had gone through life looking like I thought I was going to look, my life would have been very different. The repair job is now very old, and I am 47. It is now very obvious just where that repair was, because the lines in my face are not the same from one side to the other... But heck, everyone has lines. I think the guy who did that repair actually changed my life significantly for the better, over what it would have been.
On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 10+

3: I had scar tissue revised on an injury to my leg. The injury was from when I was 19, the scar revision was when I was 25. It does look better, but the point was that it work better, and it does. Plastic surgery is not all about being looked at, sometimes it is about how well a thing works. Droopy eyelids catch debris and are a constant irritation, people fix that also for functional reasons. I am trying to think of other surgeries that are both cosmetic and functional, but that one popped right in my mind.
On a scale of 1-10, I give that one an 8, because the skin was so tight after the revision that it took months to fully bend my leg, but it did free up the underlying tissue as it was supposed to do. I guess it would have gotten better marks if it were looser, allowing some surface scaring to remain, and thus uglier! lol

People do treat you differently if you have a defect, or are ugly. It is difficult to get along with many surface defects that can be fixed, like deep or tight scars, or droopy eyes. I do not think that changing these things by surgery is merely 'making people feel better about themselves', it is a life changing action.

On the other hand, some people are really just fine the way they are, and should not take the risk and bear the expense of surgery.

I think people should evaluate very carefully whether they are fixing their bodies because it will improve their lives, or if they are doing it because they are unsatisfied with a life that will remain the same, even if they look different. People afraid to age do this, so do people who do not like themselves regardless of how they look... Micheal Jackson should have had counseling instead of surgery.

*if your answer was no:

1. what is your personal opinion of plastic surgeries.
-I think they're alright, as long as they're not taken in a high amount.

2. would you ever have 1.why yes or why not?
I am having one sometime soon. I am because I know that one simple change of my body, which is a minor one physically, will drastically change the scope of my body.

Both.

*the reason behind most cosmetic plastic surgeries is to make a person feel better about himself. Do you believe plastic surgery really helps a person with that?

Yes, it truly does.

I am so sick and tired of people CONSTANTLY picking on Michael Jackson and his looks. If he wants to have plastic surgery so what? NONE OF US are perfect and if we want to change something on our body that we are not happy with, what gives OTHER PEOPLE the right to judge them! In Hollywood,if a woman is over a size 2 she is considered fat, just ask Jennifer Love Hewitt! The media was saying how fat she supposedly was,and this woman is a size 2,come on people! I have always been an attractive woman and I have found that if people are making fun of me or judging me on my looks, these people are so miserable with themselves or their own lives, that they have nothing better to do! I would just ignore these people if I was Michael Jackson, because he has the most beautiful big dark brown eyes that I have EVER SEEN on a man,and this aside from Johnny Depp who is also very handsome too! You need to also take into account that Michael Jackson will be 50 years old next year in August of 2008,and I think he looks really good for a man going into his fifties! As we age,it is normal for our bodies and our looks to change,it is all due in part to the aging process. If I were Michael Jackson,I would just tell the losers where to go and how to get there if they don't like how he looks!

23, dude, no. I wish I could get that kind of work, cutting up vain superficial people, and no. Because all the problems I have my body can be fixed naturally.
