The other people answering are partly right. On American keyboard, the at sign is above the two, however, on other keyboard configurations, it appears in different positions.

The UK keyboard configuration (for example) places the at sign above the apostrophe ('). I've added a link to a wikipedia page that shows different keyboard layouts.

Also, some laptop keyboard have an extra key called 'Fn' (which stands for function). On the models I've seen the key is blue, and the corresponding keyboard symbols are also blue. The key works in the same way as the shift key; you simply press it, hold it, press the symbol or character you want, then release the function key.

This is where it would help to know where the poster is from. There are more then one type of keyboard for this computer, and that depends on the region. In most cases it shift+2 but on European keyboards its different. Unfortunately I bought my computer in the US so I cant be sure but I believe it is alt Gr+Q

Edit: Wish I had seen the poster above, before posting.Props I didnt even think of wiki.

All regular computer keyboards , not only compaq has the at symbol above the number 2. If you still have problems hook up a regular keyboard to your laptop and type from that.

U.S. keyboard has @ above 2
U.K. keyboard has @ above '
Turkish keyboard necessitates use of ctrl + alt + the letter "a"
Other languages no doubt have different variations.
Do a search for (your nationality) + keyboard layout.

good luck!
