You are making the music industry a joke. Stop voting for X Factor contestants and look carefully at talented artists who are missing out on the publicity.

Instead of voting for Ray - treat you ears to some Richard Hawley at www.myspace.com/richardhawley and then spend your £1.50 this week on purchasing "Coles Corner" by Richard Hawley. Better still buy the album. You'll love it.

Instead of voting for Leona - listen to Candie Payne at www.myspace.com/candiepayne as soon as you do you'll realise what you've been missing out so nip to the shop and spend this weeks £1.50 one of her singles "Take Me", All I Need to Hear" or "I Wish"

Wouldn't it be nice if some real British talent was No 1 this Christmas. I'll be buying Little Man Tate's "Man I Hate Your Band". I strongly recommend you join me.

FAO Breeze, to a point I agree, and I think that in his 'genre' Will Young is the best around. But do we need a Leona? Have a listen to Candie Payne who really is a great deal more talented than Leona. I worry that this singer/songwriter and others like her will never get look in because of the junk that people keep buying.

I'm not a spammer for myspace I don;t even ahave a membership or anything of the kind. However I do nip on when someone says have a listen to this band as its a way of having a listen to some tracks before deciding to go to a gig or buy a song.

I'm just trying to point out that Britain doesn't need a leona or a ray these when there are already more talented British Artists in the same genre and if people want to hear them I'm telling them where its available.

I've had a listen to Martina Topley-Bird and whilst I can't say I'm a big fan I agree with your point.

With regard to knowing the names my girlfriend watches it every week whilst I moan grumble the likes of what I've put in this post.

Also - the artists which I've described are very talented and certainly not ****. They may not be to your taste but they're clearly talented, as is Martina Topley-Bird, albeit not to my taste

You are so right! If you have proper talent you shouldn't have to get a contract this way, and still end up with 15 minutes of fame. All the proper talent is not around and you have to find it. Everyone should turn of their television and go out to a small club and listen to proper talent doing what they love without having to humiliate themselves on national television.

One of the best ideas I have heard for a while.

Support British talent.

The sad thing is we all know what you are talking about when you say Ray / Leona but when you mention the others we have no clue.

I do hope only bored teens actually vote for X factor contestants. I only watched the show a few times and it is dreadful. The jury comments are always the same. Sharon Osborne over acts and is good at doing crocodile tears. And simon always says the same nasty things or "This was your best performance ever".

This simon guy is such a ****.

These shows are a plague on TV and the music industry.
Talentless karaoke singers the lot of them.
For Gods sake one of the judges forced Westlife on us, and that makes him able to judge talent?
Can anyone tell me where Gareth Gates or Michelle McManus are now?

We need a good talent show on TV for musicians, comics etc to show case their talents. I think Leona might be the exception and could be the longest lasting of these pop idols.

I will never ever vote on the X Factor again as Ben left last night who i think is just brilliant and a very talented musician,as far as I'm concerned it was fixed as he was a threat to Leona,Simon Cowel said he was her biggest threat so that speaks volumes to me

Ben should have won the X-factor and I hope we haven't heard the last of him - next year's show should be called the fiX-factor....Ray sings flat - absolutely awful but then probably the whole of Liverpool voted for him and he also got the SYMPATHY VOTE by blubbering after his song...but.... I do hope he wins it to show what a FARCE the show is.
