well friend these things are better left to the tranny shop. u have to have a near sterile environment, and know what u r doing. a book won't explain the nuances of the work to be done. just gget a good warranty and make sure they use american parts, not imported rebuild kits. and u don't have to go to the chevy dealer. a 2 year warranty should be the minimum. 2 yr 30000 miles.

it might help us determine if it is a major problem or a minor problem if you could give us some symptoms as to what the transmission is or not doing. If it's slipping a little under certain conditions or not shifting at all makes a bit of a difference. If it's not shifting at all, the fluid is in good condition and at the right level, I agree with the above. Working on electronically controlled transmissions are better left to people that work with them everyday.

take it to a transmission shop.

had you asked a more in depth question perhaps I could have helped you more.

if you are an inexperianced mechanic, DO NOT try to work on your transmission your self, you will save thousands of dollars if you let a professional do the work

depending on what it is, you are not going to believe this, but it is cheaper to go to a junk yard, and find another one with lower miles, vs, trying to fix the one that is in it,, depending on what is wrong with it
