I completely know how you feel. That happened to me when I transitioned into high school. I had a couple of friends who were a little immature or considered "not cool". The only thing is that I feel that I made time to hang out with everyone, no matter what some people thought about them. I figured that there was something that drew me to the them in the first place and I wound up with tons of friends. I had popular friends, rich friends, poor friends, smart ones, wild ones, and etc. What you need to do is be with her on her b-day and continue to be her friend. That's what a real cool person would do, it will work out for you in the long run. You might become the most popular one of all ...lol

hang out with her a little more..

I mean she has been your friend throughout, but you are willing to drop her friendship level to hang out with people who are more popular. You probably don't like the popular ones, just a greed for being popular. That is a real shame.

I found that most of the populars become the worst case scenarios, meanwhile I was the heavy-metal geek who is living in the nice house, and still have friends that wont stab me in the back, but go on, find your popularity. When you end up pregnant and broke in life without a friend in the world, because the populars dropped you, and your true friend that you are in the process of dropping wont talk to you either, it will be a mighty lonely world...
Then you shall remember this very posting from that old Heavy metal geek SCWID who has friends, and a life.

Greed is the biggest downfall, be it for money or popularity. I am not greedy, which is why I now have plenty of both...lol

Think carefully, and remember, people don't forget, nor do they forgive in actuality.

you can make a separate time for you and this girl to get together and go shopping, out to eat, or the movies. if she was to come along with you and your friends, you could pay attention to her too.
