Read books on investing. If you want to invest in the stocks you will need a lot of cash. If you don't know anything about investing you could get killed. Your best bet is a mutual fund they invest your cash in stocks for you. Call Vanguard they are good they will go over all their funds with you. You will need about $3000 to get started. Their Equity Income Fund is a good place to start, add to it each month and over the LONG TERM you should do well. Good luck.

Read the sources that these people are suggesting. Then contact a Financial Adviser. They will help you to understand any questions you may have and you can learn from their experience.

But its good to read about investing first before you meet them so you have a better understanding of what they are talking about. I would recommend staying away from the higher risk investments when you first get started.

Open a free account with one of the discount brokers such as Ameritrade or Etrade- They have areas where you can "Paper Trade" without using real money to get a feel for how it works.

While you are paper trading, read and study everything they have on the site and elsewhere to get yourself ready to trade for real...
