I would stick with an LG from Verizon Wireless (unless you want a smartphone, then I'd go with the Palm Treo 700p). My mom just got the 9900 (enV) and loves it.
The previous poster noted to go with Sprint/Nextel, but what she didn't mention was that their network sucks according to JD Power and Consumer Reports.

Everyone has different opinions about cell phones, go to the store look around ask alot of questions regarding Verizon, I have a friend her husband sells them, I haven't heard anything bad about their phones. Now Sprint/Nextel the only problem was with when they merged there customer service went down hill, so Ieft them, and went to Sun Com.. Good Luck

I am satisfied with the LG VX8100 which isn't made anymore At least I don't thnk so. My daughter likes her LG VX 8300. Go to one of Verizons stores and ask any questions you have. I wouldn't go to a place that sells 10 different brands of phone.

none of the cell phones from verizionwireless are good
buy from sprint and nextel since they just merged they have mixed phones.... so they are awesome
