A linear equation is an equation involving only the sum of constants or products of constants and the first power of a variable. (ex. y=mx+b, where m is the slope of the line; and b is the y-intercept). This is not linear: y = 3x^2 + x + 3 or y = 4x^4 +3x+5, or y = 2x^(1/4).

Linear equation is simply defined as the expression of the relationship between two variables that are directly related.

Such direct relation is one in which increase in the one is associated with increase in the other.

Mathematically, a linear equation is as expressed below:
y = mx
where, y is the dependent variable
x is the independent variable
m is the constant of proportionality defined as the gradient of equation.

Also, a linear equation can take the form:
y = mx + c

where c is the intercept on y-axis.

You can know more by studying linear graphs.

Basically, a linear equation is such that all of the variables are a power of 1. For instance,

Ax + By + C = 0

is a linear equation.

2x + 3y + z = 8

is another linear equation.

The following are not linear equations:

y = 8x^2 + 7
y = sqrt(x)
y = 2x^3 + 9x + 1

A linear equation is a mathematical representation of a straight line. With y = B, with B as a constant, all you have is a constant line. Add in ax, or mx as some know it (Which is also knows as the linear term), and you get a linear equation, y=mx+b. It's notable that m and b are constant.

A linear equation is an equation haveing two sides. It can have as many variables(x,y etc.) but have a degree of only one.

eg:
2x+3y=7

A linear eqn is an eqn whose highest degree is one.it has two variables eg.x and y.the standard form of a linear eqn is y=mx+c
[where m is the co-efficient of x and c is a constant].The graph of any linear eqn is a straight line.some egs:
2x+3y=13.To get the values of x and y you need at least two equations.eg: 2x+3y=13 and 2x-3y=-5.here the solution of the equation is x=2 and y=3.if u have any more qs please feel feel to email me.

linear is sumthing which has only one power on variable like

3x+5=2

whn you add mulitple powers on variable it becomes quadratic

like

4x^2 +8x=5
