It'll be cold, I know that...:-)

Yes it's cold, but the shopping and restaurants are fantastic any time of year. Be sure to take a bracing morning walk along the navy pier, then go to 'Fox and Obels' for breakfast. I recommend the eggs benedict with shaved truffle. To drink?..their chai latte is the best I've tasted anywhere.

The best, but by no means the only shopping is on North Michigan Avenue. I think this street is better for shopping than 5th Avenue in New York. If you're looking for an ipod, check out the apple store....cheaper than european prices!

There is no shortage of great restaurants in the city, but I would recommend you try the 'Cheesecake Factory'. In fact you can combine a visit there to an hour or so on the observation deck at the John Hancock Centre. Fantastic views of the city and the restaurant is in the basement. Be prepared to queue for a while but it is worth it. Don't expect to have room for cheesecake though...the meals are enormous, so buy the cheesecake to go.

Pizza Uno is the original american pizza house, again the portions are huge. I'm a big guy...ordered the small...could only eat half of it. Delicious though.

Don't worry there will be loads to do and see..it is my favourite city in the whole world. Just a word of warning don't travel too far outside the 'loop' or midtown area after dark and you will be perfectly safe there.

Have a great time.

Chicago has a very changeable climate. February is usually very cold( 0 to -25F frequently) with a mix of sunny days, snow and sometimes sleet. Some winters, it is quite breezy which is why Chicago is known as the Great Lakes city that will make your bones shiver. It can be sunny one minute, then breezy and bleak the next. We have a saying here in Chicago, just as they do in NE: "If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes and it will change." It is pretty accurate. It gets really cold, especially in the early part of February. It frequently snows in February, as well as in December and January. Sometimes it snows a couple feet; sometimes only a dusting. This February there was a lot of snow. This year we also much more snow than recently. Odds are you will get to see at least some snow flurries if you come in a February. A decent prediction would a lot more blustery weather but it is only a good conjecture; we cannot be sure. Make sure to have things to do in case you get stranded ][transpotation doesn't move when it gest blustery} pack long johns, a warm coat, hat and gloves as, snow or not, it will be very cold and usually breezy, if not downright windy and bone chilling This is my American friend told me Hope this can help you Zoe

Here's a perfect Chicago day in Feb.

1.) Start out with breakfast at Orange on Harrison Street in downtown.
2.) Cab it over to the MCA museum and walk around.
3.) Warm up with hot chocolate at Ghairdelli across the street.
4.) Shop up and down Michigan Avenue.
5.) Head to Gibson's Steakhouse for dinner
6.) Go to Second City for their improv show.

Dress in layers. Hat, scarf, gloves, and a heavy coat are stronly recommended. I recommend the W hotel on LSD downtown. It's centrally located and very hip. Ask for a lake-side view so you can see the view!

I recommend returning in the summer or late fall! Chi has so much to offer.
