Depending on what you are going to use it for and what you are needing the Mb for. For memory, I would suggest at least 512 but would recommend 1Gb. If you are referring to a hard drive, I think 80 to 100 Gb should be fine. Again, this will be dependant on what you plan on using it for.

It depends on what you intend to do with this laptop.

My cousin bought a cheap laptop last month with only 512MB memory, and she surfs the web and runs E-mail just fine. Office applications don't require much memory. The same is true for web browsing, music downloads, digital camera uploads, and simple games.

High-end games require more memory. This includes anything with a first-person perspective, typically shooter games but also Morrowind/Oblivion. I recommend a minimum of 1GB. More importantly, high-end games require an independent graphics card with independent graphics memory. These drive up the cost of the laptop, so first make sure this laptop is the place you want to play such games.

Finally, Windows Vista (the new operating system coming out January 31, 2007) wants a lot of memory. If you intend to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista during the life of this laptop, bite the bullet and go for 2GB of memory now.

Good luck!

Megabytes of RAM? Or hard disk space? Either way, the more the better. Of course, you can't get computers with LESS than you need.

If you are planning to get new laptop with Win Vista, I will recommend to have min 1GB. The Aero flip require that to work.

I will also recommend to get 1 pcs 1GB RAM than 2 pcs 512MB. Unless your laptop have 4 RAM slot, if not you will need to replace pc of 512MB RAM in the future, if you plan to upgrade.

if you are thinking for the long term future, you should not consider anything less than 1GB of RAM for your laptop. This will be very helpful when Windows Vista comes out.

For hardrive, then consider nothing less than 100GB of memory. You'll be glad that you considered the long term.

You mean how much Hard Drive space you want. 40 GB is more than enough. In case you want alot of space you can get 80 Gb or more. Depends on how much storage you need.
