Ford F100 6 cylinder with manual choke, I want to install a carb with auto choke. Are there any drawbacks in this operation that I should know before I take the leap, like linkage, vacuum lines, etc. Thanks. This is the same carb as is on the truck now.

If the new one is electrically opertated, yo should be fine. Some of the older (60's models) used a heat tube which came up from the manifold. If yours is a later model, it should have the full electric, and not the electrically assisted type. The vaccuum lines shouldn.t be a problem, nor the linkage. You will need to find the power source for the electric choke heater. It should be already there but unused. You can feed off the switched side of the coil if not. Be sure the new choke pull-off works. It will draw it's vaccuum from the carb.

If you are looking to put the auto choke on a truck, (I'm assuming it's a truck) I don't know that you will run in to any major problems. I've worked on the old Fords for years and stayed with the manual choke with no problems. Most of the time I don't have to even use it. Good luck.

i think on the automatic chokes, you have a either a tube that goes from the intake to the heat spring or a wire that hooks up to the choke for current to heat up the spring.thats the way mine was on my 74 ford f100.make sure you got the pull off adjusted.
