i fell in love with the bourke parrot (neophema bourke); I'd love to own one some day but how can I earn its trust?? They are so gentle & soft and I love thier personality but they seem so easily scared. What can you do in such cases? I don't really even dare to come to close to them in a pet shop because I see they get frightened.

thanx

Our thoughts send out certain vibrations which are clearly perceived by all living beings, much deeper than we can think of !
Only a genuinely loving and caring mind is 'acceptable' to them.
That is why we have so many stories about saintly persons easily befriending animals, birds, even wild ones, etc.

you should start it from somewhere... so dont be so afraid of getting them frightened.
earning trust is the second thing to do, first thing is being recognized by them. you can condition them to dont be afraid of you. for example see when they are going to be fed (something that they like) and at that moment go and stand by them and let them kno that you are there (so they will associate your being with somthing good)
there are some certain rules... like make sure you dont talk loud or frighten them... so if there are many people around and they are not happy dont go near and keep ur being iwht peace and good things. by conditioning you can do almost anything... once they know you... you can start prizing them (small piece of food or something likeable) for being good and smooth. you must have patient... coz some animals can be really shy and hard to wam up... you need to stay around them (without disturbing them) untill they become used to ur existance...
good lcuk

lol i know exactly what you mean...when you buy the bird, it WILL be scared...keep it in a cage for a week or so and of course, youll be feeding it...so, itll get used to the new environment and its owner...

you can also pay for the bird in advance and keep visiting it in the pet shop until it gets used to you.
