From Chennai to Bangalore via Vellore ( be careful do NOT turn to Chittoor near Ranipet!), Krishnagiri on NH 7 & 46.(345Kms) The Road Four Lane National Highway, is excellent upto Bangalore. Then from Bangalore via Hassan, Sakleshpur to Mangalore (320Kms) on NH 48. Sakleshpur to Mangalore is a Ghat Road for some distance. Road upto Hassan is not bad, but due to rains after Hassan I am told the Road is not that good. You may have to travel carefully. Since the total travelling distance is more than 650 Kms. it is advisable to take a break and rest in Bangalore for a day. Bangalore Roads are as good or as bad like Chennai due to heavy Traffic during rush hours. You can always take bypass roads to avoid City traffic. The weather is cold. Please take adequate warm clothing. Availabity of food on the road is not a problem throught up to Hassan. It is advisable to carry some packed food at Hassan.

Travelling Time: Chennai to Bangalore 6 to 7 hrs. and Bangalore to Mangalore 8 to 9 hrs. (including rest breaks)

A word about the Car. Maruti 800 is perfect selection for long distance travel for a small family. We have a Maruti 800 dlx and have travelled a lot from Bangalore to so many places like Chennai. Tanjore, Madurai, Trivandrum and many places in Kerala and Ooty in South. Then to Mantralayam, upto Shirdi, Nasic, Pandarpur etc. It gives good milage.and trouble free.

Have a nice time.I wish you happy and safe journey.

Maruthi 800 is a bad choice, for that I dont want you to take BMW. Try something like Honda accord.
Other wise Mangalore is a real good one to be seen.Don't miss Summer Sand Beach.

maruti 800 is not a good choice. Please go for a sturdier car. Halt en route in Bangalore. Bangalore itself is congested and will delay you 3 hours when you pass through.
