Yes they do.

Men are human souls and have a conscience. Perhaps we have different priorities in life but we certainly arent heartless stone walls.

Of course they can. Most of them, from what I've seen, are taught at an early age that such sentiments make them "weak" or "effeminate". Their brains have also been wired over the generations to have more of a hunter mentality. They wouldn't be very good hunters if they empathized a lot. (Can you see it now? In the Stone Age, two hunters are stalking a deer. One of them turns to the other and says, "How would I feel about being speared to death? Let's go look for carrots.")

Now, granted, most men aren't hunters in the literal sense in the modern era. Then again, look at how they have to survive in their jobs. It's brutal. Step on someone's toes and be a jerk once in a while, or you'll never get anywhere. When you want a promotion so you can better provide for your family, you can't be nice. And to empathize with the other person? Step on them before they step on you because you know they will. Empathy has no place in a man's world.

The only problem is that most of them seem to have a hard time empathizing once they clock out and drive home. It takes a special man to be able to compartmentalize like that and most of them just aren't able.

Agree with the last voice ...
if you look at society as a spectrum of 'people' ranging from 'men' at one side, 'gays', 'lesbians', to 'women' at the other side
then empathy fits just about anywhere in between
its down to the 'individual' not 'gender'

Yes,some men 'do' empathy. Just like some women don't. It all depends on the individual-not the gender.

Yes James and not only empathy but sympathy and compassion too, these are some of the attributes of a real man.

I am probably one of the most empathic people ever, it is a struggle to go through life this way, but it's the way I naturally am. I feel sorry for anything, even pets, because I don't believe in "trapping an animal."

Of course, who writes all the love songs and poetry ? men do.

this myth that men are emotional fridges is to our both mental and physical healths detriment.
