x-0.04(x-10)=96.4
x-0.04x+0.4=96.4
0.96x=94.4-0.4=96
x= 96/0.96=100 Ans
your answer is correct.

This is not a sum of inequalities.
(inequalities give answers like x< 100)
In any case you are getting one solution which is correct
1) put the value 100 in the equation
gives left hand side (LHS)
100 - 0.04 (100 -10)
= 100 - 0.04 X 90 = 100 - 3.60 = 96.40 = RHS
The solution is easily got as follows
X - 0.04 (X-10) = 96.4
or X - 0.04X + 0.4 = 96.4
0.96 X = 96.4 - 0.4 = 96
X = 96/0.96 = 100
