Cut and paste are very frequently performed operations. It is customary to provide several methods for performing them, such as a key combination, a pulldown menu, and a toolbar button.
The text to be moved is selected by some method, typically by dragging over the text with the pointing device or holding down the Shift key while using the arrow keys to move the text cursor.
A cut operation is performed by key combination, menu, or other means.
The visible effect of the cut is to remove the text immediately from its location.
Conceptually, the text has been moved to a location often called the clipboard. The clipboard is typically invisible. On most systems there is only one location in the clipboard, hence another cut operation overwrites the previously stored information. Multiple clipboard entries are provided by many UNIX text editors and some Windows clipboard manager programs that are available over the Internet.
A location for insertion is selected by some method, typically by clicking at the desired insertion point.
A paste operation is performed which visibly inserts the clipboard text at the insertion point.
The paste operation is nondestructive; the text remains in the clipboard and additional copies can be inserted at other points.
Whereas cut and paste is usually done with a mouse on Windows-like environment, it may also sometimes be done entirely from the keyboard, especially in UNIX text editors, such as Pico or vi. The most common kind of cutting and pasting without a mouse involves the entire current line, but it may also involve text after the cursor until the end of the line and other more sophisticated operations.
When cut and paste are provided, a nondestructive operation called copy is usually provided as well; copy places a copy of the selected text in the clipboard without removing it from its original location.
The clipboard is usually not displayed, because the operations of cutting and pasting, while actually independent, are usually performed in quick succession, and the user (usually) needs no assistance in understanding the operation or maintaining mental context.

In Windows, if you want to cut and paste do the following :
Select the text you want to cut.
How to select :
1) If you want to select a word, double click on the word
2) If you want to seelct a line, triple click on the line.
While the text is selected, right click and choose Cut from the menu. The line will dis-appear.
Now, go to the place in the document where you want to paste the text, right click again and this time choose Paste.
If you are familiar with keyboards, then you could use the Cut and Paste shortcuts also.
If you can locate the "Cntrl" key in your keyboard,
Pressing Cntrl X (i.e while Cntrl is pressed, press X key also) will cut the text and pressing Cntr V will paste it.
I hope it helps and learning computer at 60...Cool...

Highlight the area you want to copy by placing the cursor at the start of the section and clicking the left button on the mouse. Hold the button down and move the cursor along the section until it is all highlighted. Let go of the button.
Press ctrl and 'c' at the same time. This will copy your highlighted section.
Go to the page you wish to paste it on to. Click on the section you wish to insert it into. Finally press ctrl and 'v' at the same time and hey presto it is done.
Also go to learn direct's website. They do free online courses on computers that could help you a lot

Depends what your copying and pasting.
For text:
Highlight what you want to 'copy' (Hold mouse1 button and move across the text - it will go blue)
Then either right click > Copy
Or the shortcut of Ctrl+C.
This will copy the text to the clipboard.
For pictures:
Right Click->Copy
To paste:
Go to where you want to paste (word document, IM convo etc)
Right click > Paste
or shortcut Ctrl + V

Highlight the text to cut hold down the 'ctrl' button and press 'x'. To paste hold down the 'ctrl' button and press 'v'. In other words:
Cut: CTRL + X
Copy: CTRL +C
Paste: CTRL+V
By the way, cut is for copying and deleting the text at the same time, and copy is to just copy the text without deleting it. And paste is to put the text you've just cut or copied wherever you chose to paste it.
