The first serious and lasting reform movement to start in 19th c. India was the one started by Rammohan Roy [ he was also an ambassador of moghuls to England in 1930-31]. The name, Brahmo Samaj encapsulated all the facets of the reform agenda. The main premiss or the measure was reason.
