There mother and father lost temporary custody because the Mom has drug/alcolho problems, that they are trying to help with, and the father is unable due to immaturity. The grandmother had to move to a two bedroom apt by law while having this temp custody. What type of compensation should she receive, and if none, why not after having to move and set up somewhere else, pays for day care, etc? Someone with Canadian, specifically, Ontario knowledge on this, would be wonderful to hear from.

I live in the US, but I have a Canadian friend, and they said that the grandparents can file for child support and/or assistance from what we would call the county down here (I don't know what it is up there).

I'm not too sure on canada law, but in california, if the grandparents have custody, they get medical and money for food and for taking care of child. but it will eventually come back to be a bill towards the parents. try this site for more help. http://www.justice.gc.ca/en/index.html

good luck to you
