I would suggest, from personal experience from knowing a professional photographer, to use Roxio Photosuite 5

When importing an image from a digital camera, there's an option called Photodoctor. Using this will adjust brightness, contrast and other options to optimum settings.
There is also an option to remove red eye. This allows you to zoom in on the eye and use a sort of airbrush tool (the size of which can be adjusted) to black out the eye. If the eye looks like it has eye shadow around it, the size can be decreased, in the same way that if the eye looks red with a black blob in the middle, the size can be increased.

Hope this helps

Using Photoshop or equivalent, select the pupil of both eyes (using either the lasso or the circle).

Feather the selection perhaps, just a bit, like 1 or 2 pixels.

Go to Hue/Saturation, and decrease saturation, probably to 0%, but this may depend on the image and its color balance.

You might then also want to play a bit with the Brightness/Contrast - possibly darken the pupil up a bit. Again, it depends on the photo.

It takes longer to explain than to do, once you've done it a couple of times.

even however I even have Photoshop factors and different greater superior photograph classes, I even tend to consistently use Adobe photograph Album for redeye and many times times i exploit Corel photograph Album 6. those classes are made for less complicated use and hence attraction to an superior majority of human beings. Others have suggested Picasa, that's loose on the internet, yet i've got not used it because of the fact it had to acquire ALL of my pictures from my complicated force so i finished it in that is tracks. With whichever progam you elect, be careful that it does not turn neighboring purple factors (including lips or cheeks) blue in view that's how the classes artwork, changing one colour for yet another. additionally, make specific that this technique leaves the "glint" interior the attention (the little white reflective sq.) and the pupil besides, as those are the human factors. good success!

Most modern digital cameras have a red eye reduction option, which flashes once before the main flash and photograph. This has the side benefit of helping ensure no-one blinks for the real photo.

Without this, you would need to use some kind of graphics suite to remove red eye. I know Corel Photopaint has this, and I'm sure Photoshop will do too.

An easy free solution is Irfanview.
http://www.irfanview.com - useful graphics tool

You can't do this without a graphics/image editor. Just as Word and Notepad edit text documents, a graphics editor edits images.
You should have Paint on your pc. Photoshop is the best, and there is also a cut down home version (Elements) which you can get from Amazon. Its about £80.
There are several freeware alternatives, theres a list on my blog.

Do you have Microsoft Office (XP or later)?
there's something in the office package called "Microsoft Office Pecture Manager", by which you can open the image, then click on "Edit Pictures" then click on "Red Eye Removel", select the red eyes, then click OK. Clocse and click "Yes" to save...

Enjoy ;)
