Open control Panel, if it is not in classic view, click on "switch to classic view".
Click on "sounds and Audio Devices", then open the "sounds" tab.

click on any of the sounds that have a picture of a speaker nect to it (in the lower box)
after selecting one of them, look at the "play" button (arrow to the roght, like the play button on your tape-recorder!!!). if it is active, then your sound card is installed properly, if it is not active (disabled / cannot be pressed) then the audio card is not installed properly!!!

if the audio card is installed properly, the speakers may be off, volume minimized to the 0 limit, and this might be the case with the windows volume control. make sure that the program you are using is not muted also. Also, you might want to make sura that the speakers are correctly plugged into your case (the green "hole".

if the sound card is not istalled properly, that means either the driver is not suitable for the installed sound card, the driver is currupted, or the sound card itself is damaged!!!

Please note that windows media player is NOT supposed to play any file while you don't have an appropriately installed sound card!!!

Good lick

Enjoy ;)

Yep Saskia is a sexy name but I would definitely say Susie Diamond (the role Michelle Pfeiffer played in The Fabulous Baker Boys)

sounds like you have either a bad sound board or defective speaker system. Most likely the speakers and if they are powered by an ac adapter the adapter could be bad as well.
