the recent debate on muslim women re, the veil - has made the asian community realise that they are not as superior to they black community as they thought

u can still become a target for hate when the white society wants to put u back into place and turn its back on u - and all it takes is a piece of clothing!

it dosent matter how many business you own or how well u think u are doing - all u will be to them is an ethnic minority

I am White. But as the saying goes - "When in Rome, do as the Romans Do." I would not go to a Muslim country or any other and expect to carry on as if im still in my own. Its a matter of RESPECT. I respect that my culture belongs in my country and your culture belongs in your country. Now If I can go to India or Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. Get drunk in the street, Show my AR5E to passers by after hurling up a Curry at 2 in the morning then You can carry on!

PS I am only joking about the Drink and Curry bit. I think that the key words are 'Mutual Respect' and 'Tolerance'. Its a too way street. Our culture should not be passed aside for yours. As I don't expect you to change your religion and beliefs for me, I don't expect to and will not change mine for you. I believe that birth right is stronger than anything else and I hope that you feel the same conviction in your beliefs. The world would be a poorer place without ethnic diversity and differences in teaching.

I do however think that Respect should be earned and not just given from both sides of this problem.

not at all! everyone is free to do as they please within reason! but in a school classroom wearing the veil no! how can you teach and interact with children? if you are teaching children within your own culture then carry on and do as you wish! i wouldn't want my kids to be taught by somebody who wants to cover there face with a veil! would it be acceptable for me to wear a mini skirt and strappy top in there country?
