im falling for this guy and i know he likes me too. at first he was interested in us dating then he changed his mind. thing is he just got divorced this year and doesn't want to get married again and he plans to eventually move back home to another country. so he just wants to be good friends coz he can't give me what i want and doesnt want to lose our close friendship if it doesn't work out.

how can i convince him to start a relationship? and is it really possible for us to be just friends?

I am married to a man from another country; I suggest that you research his country, the traditions, lifestyle, culture, all of it; and then really decide if this is what you want. It is very difficult, yes I love my husband and yes we have a great marriage, but I truly believe that is only because I did my homework. I researched, knew what I was getting myself into and then made the knowledgeable decision to go for it.

With that being said; I don't think it's wise to pursue a relationship with someone who just went through a divorce so recently. I think it would be wise to give him some time to understand what went wrong in that marriage, and figure out what he needs to do to make the next one work forever. I really believe it is possible to be good friends, love grows from friendship. You just have to be willing to put your romantic feelings aside for the moment, to give him the chance to heal, and give you both a chance to form a solid foundation on a great friendship.

You may be very interested in him,but friends may be all he wants at this time,If you do convince him he may always have an unsure feeling about his choice,That would make for a rocky relationship.Best just let him know how you feel and give him room to make his own choice,It will never work if only one of you are happy!

my, aren't we the selfish one - the guy just went through a divorce, which must've been pretty ugly to make him want to go back to his country, and here you are putting YOUR needs first, some great friend you are, I know just how he feels, shame on you!

give him a buzz and try and take lunch somewhere and suss him out --- you may be falling for him -- but you don't want to take the fall for him .
where is his country that may wish to return to ? does he expect you to go with him if that is his ultimatum ? approach with caution !!! good luck .
