You have to study subjects that you're good at and that you enjoy, or you'll end up dropping out with no prospects whatsoever.
DO have a think about what area of work you might like to go into, and do a bit of research about what qualification those places might look for, but mainly just go with what you really like. You'll get so much more out of university if you study a subject that you actually enjoy!

If you can't convince them, then get a part-time job and get yourself there on your own! It will be a rough journey, but it will be worthwhile. You can try to get financial aid and scholarships. You can go to community college for a year or two before heading off to USC so it is cheaper in the long run. It doesn't sound like your parents will budge, so you might just have to leave them be and do your own thing. It will be hard, but if film is truly your passion and you learn everything you can, you will make it through. The only other ideas I can think of is having a heart to heart conversation with your parents and before saying anything, tell them not to interrupt until you are done explaining why film is right for you and how success doesn't equal doctor or engineer.

Trust me. Employers haven't a clue so why should you be expected to? The biggest con in the world that is.....its all a matter of luck and fortune.
When you are in a job it is easy to shine by doing more qualis and working smarter than colleagues but the degree thing is a con. I have three myself. All post grad.

You must have some idea of what you might like to do and then go along to your local colleges and sixth forms and ask what they suggest otherwise do subjects which you enjoy or think you might enjoy and take it from there.
