Most cars do so in any way. 8 years is nothing. The biggest killer is high revving, especially when the car is cold. Never run the engine warm before driving. It is better to drive off smoothly after a cold start. An engine hates to be cold, due to excessive friction. Because the metal expand with heat, it helps the pistons to run easier. 6000 rpm means that the pistons are forced to run up and down 100 times per second!!! Your car is no sport scar and is not designed to do so. Keep revs low, constant oil changes and a lot of love will make it last for ages!! Congrats!!! I wish I were you.

Well, a good tune as suggested goes a long way to keep your car in good shape. Try not to force the engine during the first month. It can mess up the car badly if you force it badly. Naturely, over 8 years, a car is going to need repairs, but if you do the regular maintaince, then you'll be fine since many new cars are made to go longer without the BIG repairs of many older cars.

There is a maintenance schedule in your owners manual, FOLLOW IT. also read the recommendations for driving practices. driving a car like you want it to last, will help it last. Don't slam on the accelerator when it's not absolutely necessary, this causes increased wear on your engine. In cold weather let it warm up for just a few minutes to warm up the transmission which could get worn from cold temp shifting. Don't take corners too fast, it will wear your tires and the linkage to your steering. Try not to brake too hard, again, this will cause wear on your brakes. I know it sounds like you Ned do drive like a geriatric, but that's why they have 25 year old Buicks that still look and run well.
