Yes, it was a good show, but went downhill quickly due to poor writing. I also agree that it probably was Stephen Collins who starred and had a Jack Russell terrier with an eye-patch and (I think) a gem of some kind behind the eye patch.
The sad part about the series demise was that there was an actor (I don't remember his name) who left Magnum, P.I. for the show (he played a friend of Magnum who was in the Navy and a little heavy) and the show was cancelled after one season. Magnum, P.I. did give him a good send-off (they killed him off and Magnum got revenge for his friend's death at the end of the episode). I still remember that ending to this day.

And yes, the priest was a German spy.

Didn't bruce Boxleitner star?
He did "Bring em back alive", and "Scarecrow and Mrs King" if I'm not mistaken.

Loved "Tales of the Golden Monkey".

The only person I remember from that show was Stephen Collins who went on to play the minister on "Seventh Heaven".

Yeah, I remember it, too. He was some kind of pilot, right. I watched it as a kid, too. Good show.
