Yes! Because the lining of the uterus is shedding

My menstrual periods are not painful and never really have been. I do get quite tired (possibly because I'm loosing blood) and a bit emotional and grumpy sometimes (sudden change in hormones). For the most part, though, I enjoy my periods because they remind me that as a women I have been blessed with the ability to grow a brand new human inside my body. That is an amazing gift and the monthly bleeding that goes with it is completely worth it.

For some women, it is extremely painful. The uterus is a muscle. It contracts during menstruation and labor. Hormones are also very active, causing headaches and very sore breasts.

Yes! Because the lining of the uterus is shedding -- a part of your body is detaching, it's not going to feel good!! A healthy, hydrated woman who is in good health may have less pain than some others - but for the most part, we all suffer.

I blame Eve...there was no pain in childbirth (and reproduction) before she ate that forbidden fruit...

I think it's because the blood clots try to attach to the uterus. If you look at them they seem to have little things on them like the bottom of frog's feet that help them stick to trees upside down. Maybe it's some kind of immaculate conception and natural miscarriage going on all the time considering how much DNA is probably floating around in the air-why wouldn't it learn how to live a little longer and implant itself at some point?

It depends on the woman. The reason is because the uterus is expanding and contracting like labor pain. It expands so blood and tissue can be excreted, that is what's causing the pain. It's no fun.

Yes!!!!!!!! It can be extremely painfull for many women because of the pain from the cramps or body aches ( especially back) and just the general fatigue that it causes women to feel!!!!
