Don't forget that Romania has 2000 years of history, culture and civilisation. The country is wonderful, people nice, so go and you'll see. And if you'll meet someone uneducated (can you name a country without such people?), it must not do your trip one never to be forgotten.

I have been to Romania - not surprisingly they are neighboring country. The Transylvanian part of the country is nice and civilized, however in other regions the poverty is quite noticeable. The prices in the country are very cheap, and the nature is beautiful. Be careful if you travel by a good car to leave it at a safe place otherwise the tires or other parts might be stolen.
The education level in the towns are OK, in the countryside, I wouldn't say so.
However it does worth the experience, and if you come, come to Hungary as well, Budapest is definitely one of the most beatufil cities :).
