I have a cabel connection and am supposed to be able to watch vidios and stuff. But the damn thing is so old and has so many viruses I can't do anything! I am constantly getting kicked off of whatever I am doing. It's not even worth putting money into fixing it. I'm kinda broke so I am looking for something around $399 - $499, if that's possible. I do reserch and E-mail alot. And I save alot of pictures. I also love music so I'll probably be doing alot of downloading. I want to be able to watch vidio clips and play games too. And I want something fast. Please HELP! I hate this thing! I just want something reliable that I can afford. There is so much out there, I wouldn't know what to buy! Thanks so much!

The real answer is: IT DEPENDS

sorry for that.

I must tell you that I think your going to spend more than $499.

Why? Because the world is getting updated.

When Windows released XP, many individuals threw out their PCs (and I mean threw) because it wasn't good enough for XP.

LISTEN TO MY WORD. If you buy a 'normal PC/ notebook', you're just gonna shell out your money because now, it's happening again.

Windows: Vista is coming out, in January, and unless you get a top of the line notebook/PC, you're going to get left behind.

It's true. Even if you wait a few years to get Vista, you'll still need a better PC.

Specs:
> At least 1GB RAM
> At least 80GB Hard drive
> An Intel: Core2 Duo or Celeron
> A good graphics card, like GeForce Go 6200
> A LAN Cable
> Plenty of U.S.B. 2.0 ports.

It's up to you to decide. But if you follow the instructions above, you're sure to have a XP/Vista capable PC/notebook.

That's better than getting a 98/XP capable PC. It happened to me, and now Vista's coming out, I feel so sorry for myself, so I hope it doesn't happen to you.

Good luck.

You should definitely get the new Toshiba Satellite Notebook, they are awesome. But the HP's and the Dell computers are the ones that fit the budget that you have. Hope u get a good deal.
