That would depend on the manner of the misspelling. Some suggest that the person using the word has heard it a few times, but is not truly familiar with it. Some spellings suggest that the person is familiar with the word, likely uses it themselves on occasion, but just doesn't know how it's spelled. Clearly this is a form of ignorance, but we are all ignorant of something. Word selection and usage is a much more important factor overall. The correct word, spelled incorrectly speaks to more knowledge than the wrong word spelled correctly.

They are in a hurry. I always check the spelling because I think 10 times faster than I can type so I'm always backing up and redoing it or using spell check.

I was just about to say that! LOL I have a very smart very dear friend who misspells words a lot but it is more due to dyslexia than her IQ...and I know of some others as well...plus sometimes you get in a huge hurry...I never assume a thing...

Mistakes are very easy to make on a key board. Just read the questions or answers and ignore the mistakes.

I don't assume anything. Maybe they were in a hurry to post or answer a question that they typed really fast and forgot to check their spelling.

Not really, I think sometimes people are just too lazy to use spell check or they just don't realize they have spelled something incorrectly. Either way, I don't think it's ignorance as much as it is, not caring. They are just trying to get their point across..

Not sure....you don't know if the person was in a hurry and didn't bother to check their spelling. I usually check mine before I send anything, esp. e-mails. Some don't seem to think it matters but I think SpellCheck is a wonderful thing....

If it is only one word, sure everyone makes mistakes it doesn't mean they dumb but if every other word is spelled wrong, I really think they should click on Check Spelling before submitting.
