I tried putting iy on the other computer but it won't work too.

Did you try with CD ROM and also DVD ROM? and you siad you have put them into anather computer also.
First, check the data cable and power cable of your computer which you are connecting.
Goto right click on my computer-->properties-->hardware-->device manager. and click scan for hardware changes.
If the device is working properly, then your comuter must detect the hardware, if not, there is a problem with your hardware.

try a different cd, dvd . if no. the drive needs to be restarted .

your CD drive may be having some problem. I give you one suggestion , if anyone tell you to repair it please do not repair it change it and buy a new one. becoz it is very cheap. hope you will solve it.
