Why do most organic compounds burned in oxygen?

Just about every organic compound contains hydrogen and carbon. These elements are both easily oxidised - the carbon to carbon dioxide and the hydrogen to water (or steam).

Most organic componds have carbon.
HC+O2 = CO2 and H2O.
