i have to get the owner of the place i work at a $20 gift for our gift exchange at work. i dont want to do a gift card because i feel that its boring. i have no idea what to get him.

if he's a good boss, I agree with the coffee mug idea, or maybe some baked pastries or breads. Hickory Farms always has some good things too, like meat and cheese trays. Maybe a desk set or calender?
If he's a jerk of a boss like mine was for laying me off right before Christmas....my personal fave is the gift of flaming bag of doggie poop on the front porch, lol.

If he hunt, try to find a nice Knife Sharpening kit, it usually have a couple of stones and some honing oil.
A favorite Scotch or Bourbon.
If, he smoke a pipe, a variety of some special tobaccos.

A variety of some different coffees. Hazelnut, Vanilla etc.
If, he fish; 3-4 Rapala fishing lures. They artificial minnows. Shallow runner, deep runner, a variety.

If he is a bad boss something he is allergic too. If he is a good boss then get him something for his desk be it a calender or paperweight. A clock for the desk. Something he doesn't have that will be useful at work. Most department stores have them already wrapped with the price list for the holidays.

well..does he smoke? you could get him a firelighter...a zippo maybe..they are cheap..and if he doesnt smoke, try a pen with ink or a 2007 calendar...its easy to get sth for your boss..just think sth a lil more formal...unless you have more ''connected'' relationships...(then you could buy him a sweater, shocks, and stuff like that)
