Some Native American tribes believed that there were four different genders, as opposed to simply male and female. They believed that there were men who were men, women who were women, men who were women, and women who were men. The tribes would allow these people to take on the gender roles they preferred. Men who were women were allowed to stay at home, raise children (in most cases of tribal life, there were multiple wives, and these men would be allowed to marry a man and be a wife), and do other women's work. Women who were men were allowed to join the hunting and raiding parties, and whatever men do. I believe they were also allowed to take wives as well, as long as they also took on a husband, to ensure reproduction.
The switch-gender people were not always gay, I'm sure, but from what I've learned about them, it was often the case. I know that not all tribes allowed this, exiling such people and the like, and I also know that some tribes even held these people on a bit of a pedestal. They were a rarity and, I guess, thought to be a real gift.
*shrug* This is all stuff I picked up from teachers, some books, and online research, so I don't exclaim to be an expert on the subject. If you have a real interest in it, you should see if there are an Native American exhibits at a local museum and talk to whoever set up the exhibit. Its there area of expertise, after all. If you're just asking in passing, I hope this helped a bit.

What do bisexuals come under? Are they hybrids?

Biologically, there are only two genders. However, I can see why people may think psychologically there are more than two genders. Some androgynous people feel like they are a third gender (i.e. not identifying as masculine or feminine).

If you are going to define sexual orientations as different genders, then four would be insufficient given the nature of bisexuality. There are gay leaning, 50/50 and straight leaning bisexuals - and thats even in simple terms! In reality, sexuality is too complex to assign labels to let alone gender labels!

So gays and lesbians are neither men or women? Uhuh. Interesting theory.

Its utter drivel. No of course its not true. There is only one type of human being though it comes like any mammal in two sexes.

I think you may need to go back to school for some basic education. If you have got to this stage in life and don't know that there is one species called Humanity, two sexes, male and female, and any number of sexual persuasions, you shouldn't be allowed out on your own.

there is a native american fable that in the beginning there were 3 types of dual beings, male-female being the most common there wer also male-male and female-female. these beings were becoming too powerful so the sky people decided to divide them to break their power. lightning bolts were sent down spliting them in half. that is how we have straight, gay, and lesbian people. and why all humanity is looking for our "other half".

I think that reducing it to 4 types is kind of restrictive--and a serious underestimation.
