Need more information Nancy. Is it a yeast roll? If it is, it should not crack open, since yeast dough expands. Are you putting the roll layer down? Are you buttering the top? Please add more to your question and I will come back. Thanks.

Are you sure your tempter on your over is right, I have had many different ovens over the years i have found that they all very in tempter some i have to turn down from the tempter the reprice said and some i have to turn up, it all depends on how old the oven is some get to hotter than others do some are to low you just have to test it out until you get use to it
