Are iron filings pure substances? If not, are they mixtures? I need an answer immediately. Please?!

If it is pure iron it is an element, but if anything else is in it then it is a mixture of iron and whatever else is mixed in with it.

Actually it is both, see the Iron being Filed is done with a Tool, both the Tool and the Iron leave matter. So the end result is Part Iron and Part Tool.
Tool can be a File, Mill, Grinder. many things. But in the process they both leave deposits. So the deposists are mixed. They are Seperate Elements, but they are Mixed and in some cases Fused.

it is a pure element just in the form of filings...rarely is a block of iron used in chem experiments....
